For those that remember it back in the day, I've revived FurRing for a new generation of the fandom. The ring was created by Mar Freid in 1996 and ran till he left the fandom in 1999, where it was passed to Capt PackRat until 2002 where it poofed. There seems to be alot of interest in it as it's a part of our history of Furs on the internet. Without further ado, here we are...

So it is a webring, right ? Never saw some rings, I started to use the
Internet when Google and other search engines were an established thing
already. (Also thought about setting up a NNTP-server on my server,
independently from Usenet or not. Seems to be a pretty interesting
technology for me, also a quite good alternative to todays webforums,
decentralisation of services is a nice thing)

More of a webring plus since you can go to the individual site plus filter through the links. As popular as search engines like Google and Yahoo are, sites still get lost in the sea - this way everyone gets included.
Since most webrings back in the day were already set up on free-host sites(angelfire and lycos were really popular ones) there wasn't a reason to seek out adbanner outfits. I could ramble on and on about the early days of the internet :D

When you guys launch your websites please post them here so I can crawl
and index them. I run my own P2P search engine called YaCy. It's much
better for finding individual sites like these because there's no
paid-for-result-prioritzatin or censorship. There's also wiby.me which
is a hand-curated index although not p2p.

Free-host sites, like "Hey, i'm here with my webpage, can you host it
for me, please" ?
Early days of the Internet probably weren't that overloaded with
interactive websites, where now at least one page takes over 5 MB just
for all those lots of bouncy, colourful buttons and interactive
animations ... but I think it could be interesting, you telling about
the early days of the Intertubes ^^

How do you mean, sites get lost in the sea ?
